I teach classical piano and voice. A properly trained voice is capable of any genre or style and so classical voice is the best place to start, even if you don't plan to stay in that field. I teach my students to sight read and be musical at all times - the most important tenants of being a musician. Piano playing is as important as sight singing skills. I train my piano students not only to play quality repertoire, but how to read music, improvise, and to work as a functional pianist. I received my bachelor’s degree in commercial music from Cal State Long Beach studying woodwinds and piano with Jay Mason. I've played Piano, Saxophone, Flute and clarinet professionally for 13 years. My major performing credits include The 10,000 Maniacs, Cheryl Bentyne and Janis Segal of the Manhattan Transfer and Grammy-award winning Earl Klugh at the Hollywood Bowl. Each year I play in the International Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia with the Ron King Big band. I have real pro experience that can inspire piano students in Lakewood.
