Flute Lessons

My objective is to help each student reach their individual flute goal. Whether it be perfecting a vibrato, preparing pieces for competitive auditions, or even tricks to memorizing fingerings. As a teacher I am patient, constructive, and dedicated, both in and out of the lesson. I individualize my curriculum according to the needs, goals, and level of each student. Over the years I have had many flute lessons, and I saw that no teacher emphasized emotion or emoting on one of the most beautifully sounding instruments ever made. I try to incorporate this value whenever possible. If interested, I have also played piccolo for five years and have recently picked up ocarina, quena, and the pan flute.

Voice Lessons

The two most important things in singing are pitch and air control, everything after makes the voice just a little prettier! I begin by teaching how to correctly manipulate both pitch and air control, then move on to tone and voice finding. Everyone has a unique voice or tone, and that is what makes one singer distinguishable from the next. Throughout my lessons I want to help my student find their voice, find the unique parts, and amplify it. As a teacher I am patient, constructive, and dedicated, both in and out of the lesson. I individualize my curriculum according to the needs, goals, and level of each student. Whether it be to sing in front of a school, a coffee shop, for friends, or in the shower, my lessons will definitely help you feel better and more confident about your voice whenever you sing.

Overview

I have been a private tutor for 7th through 12th graders located at my high school band room everyday after school. I love how every person who I get to teach gets to bring a fresh twist into how I should teach.

I've been primary first flute in high school symphonic band for all four years and have played the same role in the San Jose Youth Symphony in both symphonic and orchestral settings. Singing wise I like to say I was a serial shower singer because I was too scared people would think I was bad - so I can totally relate with stage fright. Then I auditioned for my school's A Cappella group as a tenor. Great stuff there. Apparently I wasn't so bad and our group ended up taking many awards in local competitions.

If you want to get someone with a relatable and fresh perspective then I would definitely recommend signing up for a lesson with me. No one starts off being Mozart (except for Mozart), but if you have dedication then you can certainly improve in heaps at a time. And I will be there day or night to help you there.

Fun facts, I also love to play ping pong and my favorite music will include strong piano along with sweet vocals. Currently my favorite songs to sing in the shower and examples of this are 7 Years by Luke Graham and Ordinary People by John Legend.

If you have any questions, concerns, or are still wondering if getting a lesson with me would be a good choice, feel free to email me at marceloalmora@gmail.com

I hope to hear from you soon!
