I have experience in teaching group and private lessons from young to old."

Enrolled at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Mark eagerly studied for two years, with a focus on classical theory, harmony and piano. The Royal Conservatory was the beginning of Mark’s musical education, which ultimately led him to Boston’s fabled Berklee College of Music, where he earned a B.A. in Film Scoring and Composition. While at Berklee, Mark studied under the late world renowned Harvard and Berklee professor and classical composer John Bavicchi. During this time, Mark was also featured in Guitar World Magazine's prestigious Mike Varney Home Town Heroes column, for outstanding guitar instrumental composition.

After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Mark began composing for television commercials, films and multimedia. Thomas Howell, Michael Ironside and Salli Richardson-Whitfiel), Halloween Hell ( Starring oscar nominated Eric Roberts ) My Funny Valentine (starring Tom Payne, Pippa Black, Brit Morgan and Laura Spencer). His T.V. credits include music for OWN network, The Oprah Winfrey Show, C.S.I., Super Soul Sunday, Help Desk and more.

Music composition Lessons

I have been taking 1 hour lessons with Mark for a short while now. I'm what you call an "adult" student. Though, I have played music for years , I have always wanted to learn how music works/how to write and compose my own songs. After playing for so many years other people songs, I felt it was finally time to fill this desire. Mark is very good at explaining the material in a easy to understand way.He is really talented and is a on going working composer. He puts into practice what he has used certain ( for example ) chord combinations, he tells you why they work nicely together etc... We are now working on chord voicing and I'm ax cited to now start working with mark on my first song! I would highly recommend Mark if you want an excellent very competent instructor that has a very nice, patient and friendly demeanor.

Piano Lessons

We are so happy we found Mark as our piano teacher for our 6 years old daughter. She was shy in the beginning but by the end of the first lesson she was fully engaged. Mark is a very patient teacher with good sense of humor and from our point of view he works great with kids. We are now on our 5th lesson with Mark and Sophie ( our daughter) looks forward to her piano lesson.

Music composition Lessons

Mark has a great and patient demeanor. He really takes time to make sure you understand the material he is teaching. He has the ability to take something complex like parallel modes and use analogies to present the subject in a more easy layman's terms . I would definitely recommend Mark! He is also one awesome guitar shredder!!
