Hello, My name is Zach Nazar. I am 32 years old and I currently live in Mission Hills. CA. I grew up studying music and in 2008 I graduated from Berklee College of Muisc in Boston where I studied rhythms and percussion from around the world. In 2007 I traveled to West Africa to learn traditional techniques and rhythms. I then moved to L.A. where I got my Masters Degree in music and teaching (M.A.T.). I am now performing regularly with four different groups as well as teaching classes and private lessons.

If you don't have a drum kit, no worries!
I have a brand new state of the art music studio, The RuME, in Mission Hills which is now open for lessons!

How do your lessons for adults differ from lessons for children?

Hey guys, I find that children are often still working on basic coordination with their hands and feet. Their often not able to focus for long periods of time. Whereas Adults can articulate what they want to work on, where their challenges might be and we can zoom in on those weaknesses and strengthen your chops! My lessons for adults are similar to my lessons for students in that we are going to have fun! I prioritize enjoying the music that we are playing, polyrhythmic playing in an ensemble setting so we will be playing as a duo together! We are going to have a great time no matter how old you are!

Why are you a music teacher?

I fell in love with drums at a very young age and I continued to play as I got older. When I was graduating high school, it was time to find a job and begin my career path. My private drumming teacher told me that he went to college for music! I couldn't believe him! I immediately applied, got accepted and moved to Boston to go to Berklee College of Music, best decision of my life.Aside from playing music, I love teaching music. Teaching art, I feel, is one of the most empowering and respectable things that anybody can do on this planet. The inspiration that I received from my drumming teacher completely changed my life and I hope to inspire you in the same ways!
