Overview

I describe myself as ambitious, fun, and problem solving when teaching. As an instructor, I find collaboration to be essential for a students growth and understanding of music.

I received my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Central Michigan University. While there I studied piano, accompanying, organ, and pedagogy with established faculty. While studying piano pedagogy, I had the wonderful opportunity of working with the Univeristy's Community Music School teaching students of all ages and levels. In addition to teaching privately, I organized and facilitated masterclasses, recitals, and festivals for students.

Just recently, I completed my Master of Music degree at the Univeristy of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. While studying at the UIUC I gained experience as a teacher through my Assistantship. As an instructor at the UIUC I gained and refined my teaching style to accomplish students goals.

I have been an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and acted as president of the student chapter of Central Michigan University. While president, the chapter presented at conferences at University of Michigan and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

The upmost important aspect of piano that I focus on is self awareness and proper technique. I have been trained in the Taubmen approach for piano. This approach has aided injured pianits to have the ability to perform with ease. I have had the pleasure of attending a summer symposium at Princeton Univeristy. I felt this experience deeply impacted my approach to teaching.

My personal motto: Learing any musical instrument is all about training the brain!

In addition to teaching, I enjoy performing solo, collaborating on cabarets, sculpting, and reading!
