Bass Lessons

Bass players are the soul of a band. They are the reason why people tap their feet and bop their heads. A good bass player may not get all the applause at the end of the night but they will most definitely get called back for another gig.

Overview

Music has always been my life's greatest passion. I picked up the bass so I could be in a band with my high school friends in Ecuador. It wasn't until I graduated from there that I decided to get more serious about my craft. I came to the U.S. and got a Professional Certification from the Berklee College of Music. I also worked with music teachers throughout Central Texas researching the market for the most innovative teaching methods. I love teaching and seeing my students develop and have fun!

Questions and Answers

What experience do you have teaching kids?

The youngest person I've taught was 11 years old. And they were a very good student. I think eleven is a great age to start playing music and doing stuff that requires a little bit more discipline.

How do your lessons for adults differ from lessons for children?

Adults somehow have clearer objectives about what they want to do with music. Lessons are more tailored to those specific objectives. With kids, the teacher takes on the responsibility of establishing goals for the student.

Why are you a music teacher?

I teach music because I had great music teachers. They are the reason why I am a professional musician. I believe that a good teacher can make the difference between making a student fall more in love with music or discouraging them. I believe that by being a dedicated, loving, compassionate teacher; I can create more of that out there.

What do you do during the first lesson?

Our first lesson will always be a type of evaluation. Were going to find out where you are and what you want to do with your music. An hopefully define very soon, what are the things we have to take care of to get you there. Usually, we'll introduce some basic scales, talk about the anatomy of your instrument, talk about the kind of music that you are into. Then, we'll dive right into the stuff that will allow you to play it.
