Guitar Lessons

I make sure my students are excelling quickly, by teaching them what they want to learn and having fun! You want to learn how to play rock guitar? Let's rock! Want to learn how to play your favorite songs from the radio? I got you fam! Want to learn how to play blisteringly fast? Let's shred! Want to learn how to improvise? Let's jam! My laid back teaching style keeps lessons upbeat and fun while incorporating proper technique and music theory in order to reach the students goals. I find students learn faster, and stick with their instrument far longer if they have fun learning. As a classically trained musician I know what it's like to take boring lessons. Music isn't boring, so lessons shouldn't be either!

Overview

I graduated from GIT at Musician’s Institute of Hollywood, California. My knowledge lies both in the studio and on the stage with experience playing in over 15 different bands ranging in style from Jazz to Metal. Highlights include: Cassandra Elese and the Outside Dogs, a R&B fusion group I started with writing partner Cassandra Elese. Perceptionist, an LA based progressive metal band who have been rated number 5 on Houston Press’ top 10 Most Promising Young Metal Bands. 6 month contract on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship (where we played all covers from top 40 to classic rock to jazz standards and even some fusion tunes).

I grew up in Seattle Washington, where I was taught by jazz fusion legend Don Mock. While studying with Don, I developed strong technique and a love for jazz music. Don also helped me by encouraging me to set up lessons at my school so I could get experience teaching. Prior to studying with Don, I studied classical guitar with Kenneth Jacobsen. Immediately after graduating high school I moved to Los Angeles to attend Musician's Institute. At MI I learned many styles that were new to me, such as flamenco and slap guitar, and also learned how to sight read and improvise.
