Guitar Lessons

Hello, my name is Alex Tosch and have over 8+ years experience performing, writing, recording and playing music. I primarily play rock, punk, metal, and alternative, but the knowledge and techniques you'll learn in my lessons can be applied to any genre and any style of playing. You will learn all different types of chords, scales, arpeggios, etc. You will learn where all the notes are on the fretboard, all different forms of chords and how to play them in any key, how to solo over any chord progression, how to construct and play arpeggios in any scale or key, how to play your favorite songs by ear and how to dissect and break down any song to find out exactly what is going on in the song, how to play in different time signatures and rhythms, how to go about writing your own music, and of course, everything about your physical instrument inside and out, and so much more! So what are you waiting for? Sign up today and start playing guitar like a pro, and know everything your playing inside and out!

I've been playing guitar for 8 years and playing music in general for over 10 years. I started taking piano lessons at 9 years old, and first picked up the guitar at age 12 and started taking lessons from an amazing musician and awesome guy named Andy Webster, and continued to take regular lessons from him until I was 19. At 14, I started playing bass and singing (although admittedly I was very bad at singing for a long time and I had no idea what I was doing) at 16 I joined my first band "Meltdown" as rhythm guitarist/backing vocals. We mostly played 80s rock and metal, stuff like Judas priest, ozzy, metallica, etc. By the time I was 17, me and 2 other members of Meltdown left the band and started our own band, "Murder in a Minute". I was the lead singer and guitarist (even though I still had no idea how to sing) and we had a drummer and bassist who also did backing vocals. I wrote almost of the music and lyrics for Murder in a Minute. Our styles ranged from Green Day style pop-punk to heavy metal styles akin to Slipknot. We recorded a 4 song "demo EP" in my bedroom with just 2 microphones. We started playing gigs in downtown Austin, and eventually we were able to record another 4 song EP in a real, professional studio at Dave Sebrey's Austin School of Music. Each of us had attended their "Rock Camp" program annualy for a couple years prior so we already had a relationship with Sebrey and the producers there, so they allowed us to record our EP for a very low price, working with a man named Alex Marrero as our producer. We released the EP "I'll Stop Stabbing When You Stop Screaming" through a website called CDBaby, and published it to iTunes, Amazon, Google Music and Spotify. We continued to play gigs regularly in Austin. Many of our shows were played at a bar called The Red Eyed Fly on Red River Street (I believe they've since gone under new management and changed the name) and we began working on a DIY music video for our most popular song "Bring Me Down". Unfortunately the video never got finished and Murder In A Minute has now disbanded. I am now 20 years old, I have a family, and I still have a burning passion for music. Although I'm not currently in a band anymore, I still write and record my own music as much as I possibly can. I've written, recorded, and produced a ton of music on my own. I have learned SO much over the last 8+ years. By no means am I some kind of virtuoso or musical guru, I still have a lot to learn, but I do have quite a bit of musical knowledge and experience and I want to pass that on to others. I think music is an amazing and beautiful art form and this world needs more great musicians.
