Rachel has been playing the violin for over twenty years and began since the age of five. Rachel began Suzuki training with Mrs. Sunny Lim (Suzuki teacher) and was quickly noted for her quick ability to learn and perform music at an early age. She advanced within a few years and was sent to study under Professor Elizabeth Holburn (Michigan University) at age nine and later was accepted into the Musishare program with Professor William FitzPatrick (Juilliard) at age thirteen. From that point, Rachel had applied to and been accepted to various competitive and exclusive music festivals and programs where she studied and played masterclasses for various professors such as Paul Kantor (CIM/Rice), Stephen Clapp (Juilliard), Cho Liang Lin (Rice), Cornelia Heard (Vanderbilt), Ian Swansen (San Francisco Conservatory), etc. As Rachel began to develop her violin skills, she became more involved with the music opportunities around her. Rachel has collaborated with local orchestras around her community and made appearances in public schools, hospitals, churches, and retirement centers. Rachel strived to bring music to her community and joined as many music programs and orchestras that were available to her. She was the youngest member of the South Orange County Chamber Orchestra and a member of the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has played chamber music in the program Junior Chamber Music. Rachel has been awarded first prize winner of the Voce Competition in South Orange County and the Korean American Competition. Rachel wishes to be able to share her love and knowledge of music to any child or adult who wishes to learn. She hopes to continue performing as long as she can and be able to help the music community as much as she can.
