Fun Music Lessons

Guitar Lessons

Students can pick from a variety of different styles based on their favorite artists, and will develop skills necessary to accomplish their goals that we create together by breaking down each technique into it's own lesson. We will cover everything from music theory using a pencil and paper, to development of music technology using a soldering iron and electronic components. This includes singing and ear training, as well as the use of commercial and open sourced software and hardware.

Overview

By the time I left high school, I had already preformed in Austria, Germany, Van-Couver Canada, Reno, Nevada, San Francisco, and Carnegie Hall, New York. We played with some of the best big band players including Maynard Fergusson, John Cross, and Jimmy Clirie. Since then I have independently studied the future of music technology and submerged myself in the wonderful world of hardware development, in order to create extensions of the body to enable people to create music as solo artists. Live looping has become my true passion and I am currently developing a system for students to use as an independent practice tool.

Musical expression

Everyone is familiar with the traditional method of playing an instrument and singing, but what else are we capable of. We are human beings after all and each individual is capable of so much more than what most people would expect. We have two arms and legs, as well as a body signature and brain waves, which can all be used to control MIDI information linked to musical expression. I personally am not satisfied until I see artists taking advantage of these functions.

Live looping

Something special happens when a musician records an audio loop for the first time and is able to jam to their own sound. This excitement can be harnessed as a practice tool, and can also be used to turn a musician into a solo artist. Imagine a band of one man bands. It gets pretty exciting.

Audio Coreography

Not many musicians have ever taken advantage of the extensive use of their bodies. When using controllers such as the xbox kinect, one can actually control musical expression by the movement of their bodies.

Mind control

This is my weakest topic, but also the most interesting. What if you could control a MIDI groove with your thoughts? Well the technology exists and it's on my todo list.

Ukulele Lessons

Jason is an amazingly talented and incredibly patient teacher! For someone like me who has the unfortunate habit of losing passion if I can't get the hang of it quickly, he has been great. His lessons are always fun and they keep me interested. He's incredibly knowledgeable and never makes you feel bad for not getting something right away, just moves on to a different method of teaching. He seems to truly enjoy teaching which makes the experience all the better. I would highly recommend him!
