Drums Lessons

I teach drumset and percussion to aspiring musicians. I focus on how to read and write, how to listen, studio and stage preparation, good technique, posture and breathing, good time keeping and creative thinking. In general, I strive to teach my students how to play drums musically.
Styles include rock, funk, hip-hop, metal, jazz, EDM, country and more.
I also teach orchestral percussion perhaps to help with middle school or high school band, or prepare for an audition.

Overview

I am a local working musician whose passion for performance is only matched by my love of teaching. I have 27 years of performing, on stage and in-studio, collaborating with many exciting musicians across the Pacific rim, west coast and southwest. I bring my craft and inspiration to the joy of teaching the next generation of musicians and inspiring the emerging talent of every age and walk of life.
I was raised in Washington State where I studied Percussion Performance at Washington State University as a performing arts scholarship recipient. During this time I was hired as second/first chair percussion in the Washington Idaho Symphony, my first professional position, and spent the next three years there while I attended school.
During my tenure in Seattle, I was hired to share the stage with a wide variety of bands, songwriters, pop orchestras and musical theater productions. The Bay area has offered a range of creative projects, on and off stage, varying from extended theatre runs to intimate cabarets, rock and roll gigs and as a guest artist with special performance projects. Studio recording is frequent, as is touring. Information can be found at my website: www.rhythmalchemy.org
