Private Cello Lessons - Rachel W
Private Cello LessonsSan Diego, CA

I started playing in elementary school, my mom put me into the school orchestra. I fell in love with playing music. A couple years into learning how to play cello, my mom started hiring a private teacher, her name was Ruth Bell, and she had been around the world playing in orchestra's. She was an amazing teacher. She got me into an organization called Tucson Junior Strings. We toured in different states, and it really elevated my skill levels. At TJS they had a camp called Chamber Music in the Mountains, where I was scouted and offered a partial scholarship to a university in Idaho. At 19 I created a band with some friends and we played around town, doing gigs at local coffee shops. We eventually recorded a small album. For me, private lessons were always a sort of therapy. I love to give that back to new learners of this awesome instrument!
