I have been a professional music teacher since 1989, teaching all of the traditional band & orchestra instruments (winds & strings), and have taught in many OC schools as a band & orchestra instructor. I specialize in elementary, middle, & high school students, along with adults. My education with a Bachelor of Music degree from Cal-State Long Beach has led me to become very knowledgeable in my studies of all the wind & string instruments listed in order to gain a full understanding of how to teach them to my students.

Flute & Saxophone Lessons - Sean M

Born and raised in Lancaster, Sean Mehaffy has playing saxophone for the last 11 years, though he started playing piano in 4th grade. Being raised on his parents music – bands such as Chicago, Aerosmith, and Earth, Wind and Fire – Sean fell in love with the saxophone when hearing Stephen Kupka playing the baritone saxophone with Tower of Power on the song “Squib Cakes”. From there, he started playing alto saxophone in his middle school band, competing in competitions with his instructor Jeff Kaser, and went to music summer camps at Idyllwild and University of the Pacific. Going into college, Sean has had the ambitions of being a well rounded saxophone player, with an emphasis in jazz performance. His goals to date include becoming a band leader, a composer/arranger, and a teacher that can bring real world experience to his students.

Guitar and Clarinet Lessons - Marcos M

I have been involved in music since I was a young lad. I began playing clarinet formally at the age of 11 and continued until I was 15. I picked up the guitar at 14 and have not put it down since. I am currently 28 years old. I have performed in several bands. I am currently in a bass/guitar player in a reggae/ska/jam band. I have taken a few classes, but I am mostly self taught. I have taken several music theory classes, and I can get by quite well. I find that music can channel out energy and bring happiness to a person. I would love to share my skills with others and pass on what I know. May the student become greater than the teacher.
