Professional Voice Teacher - maureen d
Professional Voice Teacher Valley Village, CA

I sing because that is what I was made to do - I'm guessing that is why you sing too :) My mother was a USO/Big Band singer so I started at a very young age and was in my first professional show at 15. I currently sing Rockabilly in my own band (a combination of Jazz/Swing and Rock/Country) but studied opera "bel canto" technique - because you need to learn the rules so you can break them. I use a yoga breathing technique because singing is just talking and breathing with a little music added, no? It should come easily to you - your body knows how to do it. I'll just teach you how to refine your technique, stretch your range and find YOUR voice. I've taught at School of Rock since 2007, and was featured in Music Connection's "Hot For Teaching" (one of 6 teachers profiled across the U.S.) as well as Fox News (National). I attended music conservatory in New York and was in the original Tony-winning cast of "Into the Woods," toured the world singing at Carnegie Hall, toured the East Coast w/Grammy-winner Folk Rock singer Michelle Shocked, and then permanently moved to LA to write/record Rock & Roll for TV/Film. I have over 200 songs in movies & shows you watch regularly. So - we can work on mic technique, stage presence, songwriting, or just SINGING.

Fun Music Teacher - Beckie E
Fun Music Teacher North Hollywood, CA

Hi! My name is Beckie and I have played music for all of my life. I play and teach many different instruments such as the Trumpet, French horn, Saxophone, Mandolin, Guitar, Clarinet, Voice, and Piano. I graduated from Chapman University in 2010 with 2 degrees in music, Music Education and Music Performance on French horn. I am currently attending UCLA for my masters in Music Performance on French horn. When I first began teaching, I taught at an elementary school for 3 years as a brass coach for a Montessori Academy. This is where I fell in love with teaching. I have been teaching privately for 12 years now and love the one-on-one attention that I can give the students. I have worked for many great organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and California Philharmonic. I currently am a freelance musician. I perform regularly with two different orchestras and am in a Brass Ensemble called the Vine Street Brass and a horn ensemble called the Thursday Horn Club. I have performed in such wonderful venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera house, in which I was able to premier a piece! I look forward to working with you or your child in helping to start or continue a musical instrument! *** Lesson Details *** When I teach lessons, I like to go at the pace of the student. I am very patient but I expect the student to practice during the week. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically. I use a lot of different books like Teaching little fingers to Play and Standard of Excellence. For Adults, I like the Big Beginners Piano book which has easy classical pieces to play! I teach from the rudimentary skills and build on the fundamentals of music. After 3 or 6 months, my students feel accomplished with what they have learned and excited for the next 3 to 6 months! I usually play my instruments with the students, but being a freelance musician, I may need to save my chops for an upcoming gig. Not always, but happens from time to time :) *** Studio Equipment *** practice space in home w/ seating for parents and music stand. I also have a cat and a dog, so if you are allergic, please let me know! The cat and dog are always put away during the lesson time. *** Travel Equipment *** I have one music stand. I expect the student to provide the music books and their own instruments. *** Specialties *** I specialize in classical genres of playing.

Classical Music Lessons - Kaela S
Classical Music Lessons Los Angeles, CA

After graduating from one of the world’s foremost Jazz Studies programs at the University of North Texas, I spent years developing and honing my craft as a professional performer, session musician, and composer in the styles of pop, jazz, classical, rock, soul, R&B, and indie/electronic music. While working tirelessly to advance my career as a recording artist I also worked with hundreds of students and became a mentor and role model to many, instilling confidence and fostering creativity! My comprehensive understanding of vocal technique is rooted in formal training but bolstered by the experience of thousands of gigs, most recently a demanding nine-month international tour as the synth/keys player and vocalist for M83. I have natural instincts for nurturing younger minds and I'm passionate about communicating complex ideas to learners in a fun way!

Pop Drum Lessons - Kenny S
Pop Drum Lessons north hollywood, CA

I've been teaching almost as long as I have been playing the drums. My teaching and life philosophy is based on what I call The 3 P's; Practice-Patience-Positivity. My students have seen much success through this concept when studying my drum method as well as applying it to other areas of life. I was lead drum instructor for a private lesson school for 8 years and started the Kenny Schwartz Drum Academy in New York, which continues today while I work and teach in Los Angeles. I have a B.F.A in Jazz Performance from the prestigious New School University Jazz Program and have toured the world with pop artists like Adore Delano (American Idol/RuPauls Dragrace) and S.A Martinez (311). Studio sessions (NY and LA) and original album work since the age of 15.

Singer Songwriting Lessons - Steve E
Singer Songwriting Lessons Panorama City, CA

Hello! I'm Steve Epting and I am a singer/songwriter and entertainer. I was born and raised on Chicago’s south side, but now I'm on the Los Angeles music scene. I am a recent graduate of Eastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. I'm a classically trained vocalist that sings in a plethora of genres (Gospel, Jazz, Pop, and R&B). I have been singing since I was 3 and I love to work with people that want to become better singers! In addition to being a singer/songwriter, I am a vocal coach, vocal producer/arranger and an actor. I got my start singing in Chicago church choirs, advancing toward acting on Chicago’s Black Ensemble Theater stage, and ultimately performing a plethora of musical genres on many grand stages across the country. Being the son of a pastor, I have a heavy background in Gospel music. As I grew in age and musical maturity, I began to be influenced by many genres such as R&B, Jazz, Pop, and Country music. Some of my musical influences include Nat King Cole, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, Motown, and the musical element of Disney films. These influences, I believe, help to make me a well-rounded artist and performer. I love teaching music and working with those eager to sharpen their craft! I love being able to share my knowledge, helping others achieve their goals and dreams! I would love to work with you! Let's get started today!
