Pop Music Teacher - Charlotte G
1 Review
Pop Music TeacherLeander, TX

Music has always been a part of my life. Since beginning the piano at age 4, I have dedicated most of my life to spreading the gift of music through performance and education. I received my degree in music education and French Horn performance from James Madison University. From there, I travelled extensively throughout the US and Europe. These adventures not only broadened my geographical horizons but also my artistic. I continue to play in a variety of settings including orchestras, fellowship and pop bands. Teaching has always been my first love and I enjoy instructing musicians of all ages. It's never too late (or too early!) to discover the talents within. When I am not teaching and performing, I enjoy spending time with my husband Kevin working on DIY projects at our house, playing with my son Dylan (who is an awesome guitar player), snuggling with my 5 cats, curling up with a good book and knitting scarves for those horrible Texas winters!

I recently graduated from UCLA with my Masters in Music Performance on French horn. When I first began teaching, I taught at an elementary school for 3 years as a brass coach for a Montessori Academy. This is where I fell in love with teaching. I have been teaching privately for 12 years now and love the one-on-one attention that I can give the students.I have worked with many great organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and California Philharmonic.I currently am a freelance musician. I perform regularly with two different orchestras and am in a Brass Ensemble called the Vine Street Brass and a horn ensemble called the Thursday Horn Club. I have performed in such wonderful venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera house, in which I was able to premier a piece!I look forward to working with you or your child in helping to start or continue a musical instrument! *** Lesson Details *** When I teach lessons, I like to go at the pace of the student. I am very patient but I expect the student to practice during the week. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically. I use a lot of different books like Teaching little fingers to Play and Standard of Excellence. For Adults, I like the Big Beginners Piano book which has easy classical pieces to play!I teach the rudimentary skills and build on the fundamentals of music. After 3 or 6 months, my students feel accomplished with what they have learned and excited for the next 3 to 6 months!I usually play my instruments with the students, but being a freelance musician, I may need to save my chops for an upcoming gig. Not always, but happens from time to time :)*** Studio Equipment *** practice space in home w/ seating for parents and music stand. I also have a cat and a dog, so if you are allergic, please let me know! The cat and dog have always put away during the lesson time.*** Travel Equipment *** I have one music stand. I expect the student to provide the music books and their own instruments.*** Specialties *** I specialize in classical genres of playing.

Brass Lessons at Home - Denver S

I have lived in quite a few states including Texas (was born here in Tyler), Michigan, California, Florida, and United Kingdom. In high School i was in all state Bands 3 Years in a row. I have had two of my students become all state band members. I love brass instruments and love teaching it. A lot of people play them wrong until they get lessons and that is when they truly fall in love with the instrument. My job isn't just to make you better on your instrument its to make you love the instrument you picked in elementary school and make you realize how important YOU are to the ensemble. Teaching is so much fun and its my passion.
