I received my Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from the DePaul University School of Music in Chicago in 2015, and I've been accompanying various church groups, choirs and soloists for the past 10 years. I welcome students of all ages and genres, and I look forward to helping each of my students develop their own musical identity.

Voice Lessons - Jania F

My name is Jania! I've been a professional singer since I was a child. My father is a guitarist and my mother is a singer. They met in a band! So, naturally, I fell in love with music! I started my career singing with The Winans (a gospel group), Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Bob Jovi..and many other singers and performers. I later went on to write songs for myself and other artists. I was also doing voiceovers...all before my 16th birthday! I signed a record deal with my sisters right out of high school. My determination and hard work helped me to be the singing voice of NBC & CBS soap operas and gave me a chance to start really developing my vocal style. I later wrote & recorded a national and international Dance/Pop song that blazed up the charts. I've been a featured singer with The B. B. King's All Star band that is featured on the Holland America cruise line. I had a chance to share my voice with people from all over the world! Throughout ALL of this, I've helped other singers unlock the magic within their own voice...just like my former vocal coaches did for me. As long as you're willing to work hard, challenge yourself, explore your own voice, and have a lot of fun...you'll become the singer of YOUR dreams! I promise.

I have studied guitar for the last 12 years and voice for the last 6! I may not be classically trained and do not teach music theory but I teach people how to feel what they play! All of my students will have a fun yet very informative time when I work with them! They will learn how to tap in to their own abilities and FEEL what they are playing! Of course, I still teach Notes, Chords, Keys and proper technique to my students but I make sure the process is fun and fulfilling for all of my students! I have worked with SLS (Speech Level Singing) Instructors for several years! I will be able to get my students where they wish to be and at the very least on to the path they need to be!

I sing because that is what I was made to do - I'm guessing that is why you sing too :) My mother was a USO/Big Band singer so I started at a very young age and was in my first professional show at 15. I currently sing Rockabilly in my own band (a combination of Jazz/Swing and Rock/Country) but studied opera "bel canto" technique - because you need to learn the rules so you can break them. I use a yoga breathing technique because singing is just talking and breathing with a little music added, no? It should come easily to you - your body knows how to do it. I'll just teach you how to refine your technique, stretch your range and find YOUR voice. I've taught at School of Rock since 2007, and was featured in Music Connection's "Hot For Teaching" (one of 6 teachers profiled across the U.S.) as well as Fox News (National). I attended music conservatory in New York and was in the original Tony-winning cast of "Into the Woods," toured the world singing at Carnegie Hall, toured the East Coast w/Grammy-winner Folk Rock singer Michelle Shocked, and then permanently moved to LA to write/record Rock & Roll for TV/Film. I have over 200 songs in movies & shows you watch regularly. So - we can work on mic technique, stage presence, songwriting, or just SINGING.

Hello, dear students! Thank you for visiting my site.I began helping my fellow vocal performance majors with their lessons while in my junior year of college--essentially, music tutoring. Shortly after, I began leading a church choir, and accumulating students ranging from a 10-year old girl who was interested in singing, to an undergrad interested in music who was taking private lessons to fulfill a liberal arts requirement. I therefore have experience with students from children to seasoned adults, and I can help you.I graduated with my BA in Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance and Minor in Dance in the spring of 2009. I am currently a working actress in LA.My approach to teaching is no-nonsense. I will expect much of you in terms of effort and practice, and in return, I will not let you fail.Thank you for reading my profile and I can't wait to hear from you.

After graduating from one of the world’s foremost Jazz Studies programs at the University of North Texas, I spent years developing and honing my craft as a professional performer, session musician, and composer in the styles of pop, jazz, classical, rock, soul, R&B, and indie/electronic music. While working tirelessly to advance my career as a recording artist I also worked with hundreds of students and became a mentor and role model to many, instilling confidence and fostering creativity! My comprehensive understanding of vocal technique is rooted in formal training but bolstered by the experience of thousands of gigs, most recently a demanding nine-month international tour as the synth/keys player and vocalist for M83. I have natural instincts for nurturing younger minds and I'm passionate about communicating complex ideas to learners in a fun way!

I have been playing guitar, singing, performing, writing and recording music for over 13 years. Like many musicians I started out playing in bands with friends and expanded into recording a lot of my own material. Music has always been my passion, and I am continually inspired by listening to new music and expanding my horizons. I find teaching to be a great joy, and the collaborative process of playing music with others to be incredibly fun and rewarding.

I want to work with my students to get them playing their favorite songs and being confident to jump up on stage and perform them with other musicians. To me, music is about the relationships and connecting to others. So not only will I be able to help you learn how to rock out to your favorite songs, we will work on all the aspects that can get you playing with your peers. Such as, Music Theory, Song-writing, improvising solos, and playing as a group.
