Professional Voice Instructor - Stephen A

Stephen Amundson is a voice teacher, singer, musical director, and accompanist. He is the accompanist and voice coach for Cypress College’s Musical Theatre Techniques class where he informs and guides students on proper voice use for the stage. He maintains a voice studio in Cerritos, California.For over 10 years, Stephen has accompanied, coached, taught, and performed alongside many singing professionals. Due to the many requests from peers for vocal guidance, his voice studio began in 2014 and has grown immensely.Stephen has often been asked to speak at high schools and colleges because of his ability to break down technical vocal concepts and make them applicable and engaging for singers.Stephen performs as an actor, singer and accompanist throughout Orange County and Los Angeles, California.Stephen received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the American and Musical Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles. He is currently in preparation to pursue a Masters Degree in Voice Performance.

I started to play piano since I was 6 years old. I graduated from Music College and Music Academy in Russia. I have 32 years of pedagogical experience as a music teacher. When I came to America, I took piano pedagogical classes, Child Development, and Choral classes at Saddleback College. I have been living here with my family for 10 years. I am working as a music teacher with children of different ages and adults. I am teaching any levels, but prefer beginning and intermediate. My students are any ages, from kids to adults. I am enjoying my job. We have a Performance for the parents every semester, my students like to participate it.

Instruments combined, I have 20 years of private and college level private training, and about 7 years teaching. I manage and play in the Deviant String Quartet, play viola in the Lark String Quartet, fiddle and backing vocals the Irish band Dublin Public, and am the Administrative Director and Principal Violist in the Orange County Collegiate Orchestra.
